Yes I am a direct descendent of Nathaniel Tilden, my grandfather was a US citizen.
My family has the full family tree going back to Natheniel.
Simon Tilden
I am his descendant, He married Lydia Hucksteppe and had 12 children before moving to Scituate, Massachusetts in 1634. He died there in 1641 and is buried in The Men of Kent Cemetery. Would you like me to end you his descendancy chart? If so, I’ll need your email address. And would you please send me what you have on Nathaniel? I’d appreciate it!
Hi there. Since your message was posted some time ago you may already have this information. I, too, descend from Nathaniel Tilden. According to Ancestry.com, Nathaniel’s father is Thomas Tilden b 1546-1551, Tenterden; d 6 June 1617, Wye, Kent, ENG. He mar Alice Biggs in Tenterden on 10 Mae 1576. She was b 1548 & d 13 May 1593, Tenterden. Thomas’ father is Richard Tilden b 15 Oct 1520, Benenden, Kent, ENG; d 15 May 1566, Tenterden. He married Elizabeth Glover in Mar 1540, in Benenden. Elizabeth b 1515; d 1585. Richard Tilden is named for his father, Richard TYLDEN who was b 1475 in Benenden; d 1552 also in Benenden; mar Joan Leigh who was b 1477 and d 1557, both in Benenden. I welcome all information that doesn’t agree with this but I do hope this helps. Thanks.

Since I posted, I have done more research and have the Tilden family back to Henri de Tyldenne in 1089. If any of you want my information, let me know. My email is: [reveal email] .

Thanks, Gail, that is a most generous offer! I am going to pass on it, though. Tilden is a collateral line of mine as they married into my Whittemore line once they came to America. Sure is great to know some folks are having wonderful luck in their research. Thanks, anyway. Carolyn Dietz
Hi, my name is Anthony Tilden (Tony) we are direct descendents of Nathaniel from his youngest son Stephen, our branch eventually settling in Norwalk, Ohio. My father then eventually came back to England and became a British citizen! We have also traced the line back via various leads too Henri! If you have any more information we could wexchange details ? [reveal email] . I would particularly like to learn more abourt Henri as we go over to Normandy every year.
Best, Tony
Hi cuzzin! How lucky you are to be where it all started. I’m sure I cannot help you as my Tilden intermarried with my Whittemore family way back in early Massachusetts history and they went on from there.
Cheers, Carolyn
Gail,
My name is Randy Kline. My wife is related to the Tilden family through William Hatch and Anne Tilden. I have the Tildens traced fairly well back through Richard (or John) and Joane Leigh but am somewhat confused by conflicting names before that. If you could straighten me out I would appreciate it.
My thanks for any help you can give,
Randy Kline

Hello Randy – Guess your wife and I are cousins, eh? I have a John Tilden as father of Richard but that’s as far as I have researched on that family line. What an interesting family! Guess I should start working on that line again. Are you filled in up to Richard? Let me know if I can help. Betty Berentson
Gail, thanks for your reply. My email is [reveal email] . The Tildens are the first of my wife’s family I’ve been able to trace back to old England. I look forward to seeing where it leads. Thanks, Randy.

I have been looking for documented evidience to prove this line. So far, I can only find evidence up to John Tylden (1406-1463) from Benenden. Can you tell me what sources were used to find the link to years before 1400 since Wills and Church Records are extremely rare.
Thank you, Shannon
