1940s Weekend – Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th May 2026

Step back in time and immerse yourself in a whole weekend of pure 1940s nostalgia! Experience the sights, sounds, and fashions of wartime Britain as the railway turns back the clock for this popular annual event. Book early to avoid disappointment!

Tenterden Station Highlights

Live music from the D-Day Darlings each day and ‘My Favourite Things’ throughout the weekend.

Explore vintage stalls, including Ruby Jo Retro, offering authentic 1940s clothing, accessories, and themed food.

Enjoy 1940s hairstyling with Belle’s Parlour (additional charges apply).

Step into wartime Britain with living history displays, period vehicles, and characters such as Viv the Spiv, Royal Navy Beach Commandos, and the Fire Service Preservation Group.

Marvel at a full-size replica Spitfire on display.

Bodiam Station Activities

Relax and enjoy refreshments from the NAAFI van or Vintage Allsorts Tea Room.

Live music from Miss Holiday Swing (Saturday), Sarah Martin (Sunday), and Adam Hoffman.

Explore costumed re-enactors, military and civilian vehicles, and the 1940s Corner Shop display.

Visit the Royal Navy Commando and Desert Rats encampments with authentic kit, weapons, and jeeps.

Take photos with the charming Blackout Buddies.

Travel & Tickets

Freedom Tickets offer unlimited train travel on the day; collect a free 1940s identity card to join the fun.

Trains run every 45 minutes: first train departs Tenterden at 10:45, last leaves Bodiam at 17:03.

Limited Platform Tickets available on the day.

Admission: Tenterden £8 adults / £1 child, Bodiam £5 adults / £1 child.

Discounted tickets for KESR members, HRA, and Priv holders (50% off the enhanced rate).

Explorer tickets are not valid for this weekend.
