Robert Reid Trio

Jazz pianist Robert Reid originally studied classical piano, but when at Oxford University switched to jazz after hearing records by the great pianists Fats Waller, Art Tatum, and Oscar Peterson. Inspired by their rhythmic and improvising brilliance, Robert was tempted to follow a musical career.

However, and despite the urgings of his early friend, a certain Tim Rice (Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita etc), he decided to play safe and became a lawyer, playing jazz piano as a semi- pro in the evenings.

Robert worked with his Duo or Trio (piano, double bass / drums) for many years, performing regularly in London and the Southeast at various jazz venues and private and corporate events.

Their repertoire includes interpretations of classic compositions from the Great American Songbook plus Latin, gospel, jazz, funk, and blues.
