Tenterden in Kent Town Guide

Frederick Burch

Does anyone know of a family in the St Michaels / Boars Isle / Tenterden area called Burch?

I found a book in a charity shop inscribed to Frederick Burch May 24th 1920 Jireh Chapel Particular Baptist Sunday School Boars Isle, and if I find a descendant I’m going to send it to them.

You may already know this – but Frederick’s Father (also Frederick) was a grocer living in Tenterden High Street in 1911, together with several children. Frederick was aged 4 then.

    Dear Ted,
Very kind of you to do this. I’m a great-nephew of the said Frederick (assuming it’s Frederick junior and not senior) and by coincidence I work in the same road as his granddaughter, in Eastbourne.
I would imagine she’d be interested so I will email her tomorrow.
    Regards

    Ted,
Just for info. There are no Burches left in Tenterden as far as I know. My grandparents Allen and Eveline Burch were the last ones of this line in the town and they died over 25 years ago.
I found out about this thanks to a Carol Trotman who contacted me via Genes Reunited, a family research website.

    Ted,
As I said I’d never heard of this website until Carol contacted me earlier today but I see there are a few members on the message board with the name “Birch” – all my ancestors spelt the name “Burch” back to the late 17th century so if these others are related it must be very distantly!
